F is the production factory which stands for Fujigen. The first digit will be the last digit of the year, ie. The last 5 numbers will be the consecutive number denoting production count for the year with the caveat that each month will start at predetermined intervals of or , etc. Presently it is set at These serial numbers are usually quite different from the MIJ numbers, have many extra digits because of the enormous volume of guitars produced, and I am not familiar enough with any of them to tell you how to figure out the dating.

Cort Serial Numbers – Cort serial numbers are denoted with a C prefix followed by either 7 or 8 digits. I’m not sure what year the changeover occurred but using the formula it will be easy for you to tell. The letter denotes year, starting in with A, with a 5 digit production number. Z will be the year Month, production number that month, year.

I do not know how accurate the system is but the few I’ve run have worked just fine. In a case where a guitar has both the true serial number will always be the headstock number. Plate numbers usually follow the pattern of the first 2 digits denoting year of production followed by a 4 digit number that denotes consecutive production for that model for that year, or consecutive production number for that particular model from the models inception.

In cases where generic non model specific plates are used the 4 digit number is just the consecutive number of that plate which could have made it on possibly 10 different models.

I bought it new in in Auckland New Zealand, and have carried out one modification, putting in a bone saddle. It’s traveled around the world, been battered, bruised, and has a slightly warped neck which causes D chords to play slightly flat sometimes.

The condition of this high end instrument is excellent plus and this guitar is simply wonderful. Only the highest grade woods used as you can see This guitar shows very little fret wear. There are just a few minor nicks or scratches which is normal wear for a guitar of this vintage that has been lovingly played. Ibanez Dreadnought Steel String Guitars user reviews

This is a very quick history, and mostly from memory, so take it all with a grain of salt and try to verify what you can from other sources. However, every attempt has been made to provide only verifiable and true information, in an attempt to set the record straight and dispell some modern “myths” about Ibanez model guitars. They were not forgeries, as they were never sold with misleading logos or with the intent to deceive.

Due to their high quality, Ibanez guitars and those made under other brands, such as Greco and Aria, quickly earned a reputation around the world as quality instruments at a great value. There is a form of urban legend that circulates in the guitar community that has many variations, but usually involves either Gibson or Fender suing Ibanez, Aria, or some other Japanese manufacturer, with the intent to stop that company from manufacturing superior copies.

The truth is less glamourous.

dating ibanez guitars An Ibanez serial number can tell you two things, year of manufacture and factory [or country] of manufacture. There is no master list to correlate to a model number, these are consecutive serialized numbers only.

ibanez v300 acoustic???? does anyone have specs?

Tell us more about those. There are a couple of the “BillM” mods named after Bill Machrone, who has become kind of the main guru of Blues Junior modding that look pretty worthwhile to me. Others are more focused on fixing issues that can come up or making improvements to the older “green PCB” found in the ’95 – ’00 BJr’s. When Fender moved production of the BJr to Mexico in , they also went to an updated PCB design–the “cream board”–that fixed several of the design issues with the older green boards.

There is a ridiculously easy mod involving soldering a jumper across two lugs of the Mid tone pot that converts the operation of the tone stack to mimic that of the Twin Reverb.

It cost euros. Action is just perfect. All the frets are easy to play and there is no fret buzz. The sound is very bright and clean. The guitar resonates very well. Mahogany back, spruce top. Rosewood neck probably with polyurethane finish. Ibanez V is a very nice basic guitar. It’s a great for both beginners and professionals. If you find an Ibanez V from a local pawn shop, give it a try. This review was originally published on http:
